Women In Skilled Trades
CWIT anticipates significantly expanding the numbers of women they reach and support through an unprecedented $2.1 million grant provided by the U.S. Department of Labor to support the Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) project. WIST will create a vast network of community and public partnerships to assemble a bridge to construction jobs that provide self-sufficient wages.
Tradeswomen of Tomorrow
Chicago Women in Trades' girls' programs have been in existence for six years and are nationally recognized and replicated. The state has recognized CWIT as a leader in nontraditional career programs for girls and continues to showcase CWIT's partnership with the Chicago Public Schools as a model for the state. More info about our Girls At Work, Ninth Grade Outreach, and Aspiring Tradeswomen Programs is available.
Technical Opportunities Program
Established in 1987, the goals of the Technical Opportunities Program (TOP) are to create awareness and demand for access to nontraditional opportunities, provide women with the knowledge and skills to succeed, and support their entry and retention in these occupations. More info about the TOP program is available.
