Employment: Opening Jobs for Women Local

  • WORKSITE 2000: Increase the number of women hired and retained on construction projects.
  • Manufacturing Opportunities for Women: Increase the number of women in manufacturing jobs.

State

  • Increase affirmative action enforcement and develop WORKSITE 2000 initiatives and other technical assistance initiatives to ensure female participation on state construction projects.
  • Strategically create and implement legislative initiatives that promote the participation of women in state-funded construction jobs.
  • Work for employment and pay equity through work of the Governor's Commission on the Status of Women.
  • Research female participation on state-funded construction sites.
National
  • Explore National Litigation Strategies.
  • Identify strategies to reinstate Gender Equity in Perkins Act and WIA Act.
  • Develop national partnerships and maintain existing relationships.
  • Strategize and build relationships with Congressional Women's Council, AFL-CIO, and others.
  • Preserve and increase funding through Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) and identify other federal funding for nontraditional work of women.
